Multimodal and adaptive design of user interfaces for the OR
As a transfer project within the „Intelligent Technical Systems – it´s OWL“ cluster of excellence, steute Meditec developed and evaluated innovative concepts for interoperable OR user interfaces in cooperation with Center for Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) at the University of Bielefeld.
In brief
- Project start: 1st July 2016
- Project end: 31st January 2017
- Project partner: Uni Bielefeld CITEC
- Active partner
Focus - OPtimal
- Analysis of requirements and definition of potential applications
- Literature and market analysis
- Development and prototyping of multimodal, adaptive user interface concepts
- Evaluation and optimisation of prototypes
- Embedding in CQP-MMI platform
A transfer project within it´s OWL cluster of excellence
The concepts evaluated included voice control, gesture control, touch control and control by eye movement (eye tracking), as well as combination of these techniques with tried-and-tested foot-controlled user interfaces. Evaluation included handling performance, cognitive strain on the sixty test persons, as well as their own subjective opinions of the systems. The best solution proved to be multimodal operation: "task sharing" between foot and voice control.
