Interoperable communication is the future of medical technology.
Service-oriented Device Connectivity (SDC) is becoming reality, and medical devices in the OR "interoperable". This will have a significant impact for the user interface. We are fully prepared and already working intensively on further developments.
steute Meditec is at the very forefront, and although SDC is nearly ready to launch, some fundamental questions and details still need to be clarified. The goal is for as many manufacturers as possible to equip their devices with SDC-compatible interfaces – and for the interoperable OR, with all its benefits, to become reality after more than twenty years of intensive preparation. New generations of interfaces are ready and waiting to face this challenge.

Our wireless foot switches are simple to integrate in your medical system, or alternatively to retrofit externally – and all for a price which is attractive even in a market segment under extreme cost pressure.
Foot switches in the OR must be perfectly sealed. As part of the MERLIN research project within the "it's OWL" cluster of excellence, steute has tested the integration of sensors and antennas inside the enclosures of controls and switching devices for industrial applications, as well as medical systems.
Here, laser direct structuring and additive manufacturing have been successfully combined. Various methods of measuring moisture inside switch enclosures have been tested, including one which we will be presenting at the Medica. A very promising development for the future.
