Certifiable integrated medical equipment and IT systems on the basis of open standards in the OR and hospital

Within the framework of the project "Certifiable integrated medical equipment and IT systems on the basis of open standards in the OR and hospital" (ZiMT) and building on the OR.NET project, selected companies from North Rhine-Westphalia developed an integrated OR system including a central (surgical) workstation. The goal was to establish a network facilitating the sustained further development and perpetuation of the technologies and standards used.

In brief

  • Project start: 1st July 2016
  • Project end: 30th June 2019
  • Active partner

Within the field of pre-competitive medical-technical research and development, this project led to the emergence of fundamental concepts underlying the safe dynamic integration of components in the OR and hospital. These concepts are based on an open standard which is synchronised with state-of-the-art national and international directives.

steute Meditec was very committed to this project, developing user interfaces which communicate with different medical devices on the basis of the developed standards.

ZiMT was successfully completed at the end of June 2019 and is now continuing its work in the project "PriMed" (Process optimization through integrated medical products in operating theatres and clinics). In this follow-up project, steute Meditec is also an associated partner. PriMed pursues the goal of creating fundamental concepts and first viability studies for measures to optimise perioperative processes in line with "Hospital 4.0" – by implementing cross-manufacturer open integration. Here, too, the basis is the "SDC" standard to ISO/ IEEE 11073.

Focus - ZiMT

  • OR integration
  • Human-machine interaction: graphic user interfaces, novel input/output devices, modular design and realisation of OR user interface
  • Approval of integrated medical devices
  • Standardisation
